Thank you for your interest in knowing what to expect when you visit the Harrison & Willow Church of Christ in Conway, Arkansas.  Whether you reside in the Conway area or just passing through and want to worship with God’s people, you will receive a warm welcome by our church family.  We want to get to know you.  You will be a stranger only once.  You will leave with the knowledge that you have been with God’s people.

Like Jesus, we do not concern ourselves with socio-economic boundaries.  We believe that God is responsible for the creation of each and every human being; therefore, every soul is distinct and precious.  Christ died on the cross for all men – “…red and yellow, black and white, they are precious in His sight…Jesus loves the little children of the world”.  The Jesus that we follow had a relationship with the well respected and the societal rejects.  Our goal is to assist each person who visits us, regardless of background and economic standing, to a better knowledge of God through an association with His God-centered, servant-hearted people.  Through this association and a study of His word each can obtain the more abundant life that Jesus spoke about in John 10:10.

Our Bible studies are interactive.  Each person is given the opportunity to share his/her thoughts on the subject being discussed.  We accept the Bible as the final authority.  We believe that if a message can be understood by the smallest of children, then the educated adult should have no trouble understanding it.  The teachings of Jesus were simple and we see no reason to make them complicated today – either in interpretation or application..

We strive to follow the example of the 1st century church as first established by Jesus.  Christians expressed their heartfelt thanksgiving through meaningful song.  In the midst of persecution and imprisonment, they sang.  When happy, they sang.  Singing without instruments filled their assemblies.  There is no greater sound than true believers meaningfully speaking to God and to each other in song without instrumental accompaniment in expressions of the heart.  The voice is God’s special instrument to man.  We strive to offer to Him our very best through its use.

Each Sunday, we remember the death of Jesus Christ on the cross as a part of our worship to Him through special observance of the Lord’s Supper (or sometimes referred to as “Communion service”).  This consists of unleavened bread, representing the body of Jesus, and the fruit of the vine, representing His blood.  Each baptized member will partake of both.  Understanding the cup to be a reference to the content rather than the container, multiple cups are used for the fruit of the vine.

A collection will be taken each Sunday.  This collection gives members opportunity to contribute in an orderly manner toward the work and programs administered by the congregation.  These funds make possible the evangelistic and benevolent work of the church.  Programs to sustain the spiritual growth (ie. edification) of the congregation are also funded through these freewill gifts.  No collections will be taken during Bible classes or at any other time.  As a visitor, you will not be expected to contribute although you may if you wish to do so.  You will not be asked to purchase anything in the name of the church.

The sermons you will hear are presented in context from an announced Bible text.  Pew bibles are available for use during the services by those who did not bring their own.  Members are eager to assist should you desire help in locating the text being studied.  Applications are simple, yet eternally powerful.  Bible questions are always welcomed.

We ask that you fill out a visitors’ card so that we may let you know personally how much we appreciate your taking your time to be with us.  This will also allow us to share news and information that may be of value to you in the future.

Come visit with us and enjoy the warm welcome that awaits you here.  We look forward to meeting you soon.
